Multi user support

"The only music collection software that enables true multi user support".

True sharing of a music library and individual user preference have been a tedious, not to say impossible task in the past.

Helium Music Manager (Network edition) comes with the unique feature to share a music collection in a home network and let each user keep his or her own playlists, smart playlists, ratings, podcasts, favourites (artists, albums and tracks), playing history and user categories. In addition to this, a playlist, smart playlist or podcast can be shared, meaning that all users can see and contribute to them.

All users connect to the same central storage location (which is any computer in your local network, or a network attached storage - NAS) to access the same music. Regular meta data such as artist, album, release year etc is shared for all users. This also means that if one user corrects a misspelling or changes other meta data (also called tags), all other users immediately benefit from this.

How does it work?

Installation and setup

  1. Purchase a license for the Helium Music Manager Network. This allows you to install the software on up to five computers in your home network. Already own a prior Helium Music Manager version, or the latest Helium Music Manager Premium? Head over to the Customer Center to find a special upgrade offer.
  2. Install Helium Music Manager on the first computer. A default installation of Helium Music Manager will install the Access database which only works in a single user environment. You will need to create and connect to an SQL Server Express (recommended) or MySQL database. Information about installing and connecting to one of these databases can be found below:
  3. Add your music to the Helium Music Manager library.

Now you're ready to set up the additional users and clients.
